There is a recipe going around for a leg scrub. I tried it and it made my legs feel FANTASTIC. The basic recipe is Mix 1-1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of olive oil ,and 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Then you spread it on your legs in circle to remove dead skin and then shave. I’ve tried many homemade scrubs over the years but this is definitely one of the best!
If you follow my blog, you know I have tried ALOT of different herbs and methods to increase my milk supply. My most recent attempt was saw palmletto. I had read of several accounts where this herb helped women when nothing else did. Unfortunately, I did not notice any changes. However, I am putting this out there in case there are other women searching for answers and a way to increase their milk. My research found the following dosage as a recommendation-
Begin with 500 Mg in morning & 500 Mg before bedtime, increase to 1000 in morning & 1000 Mg before bedtime after 1 week.
Oxytocin is a hormone that lads to milk ejection. Some women struggle with let-down when breastfeeding. Some doctors do prescribe an oxytocin nasal spray, however, it is not available in the United States. You can have a compounding pharmacy make it but it isn’t easy to come by. I heard of an was curious to try a product called Liquid Trust.
The product is described as: “Scientists have recently discovered a chemical that makes people trust others. For the first time, you can have the world in the palm of your hands and it all starts with Trust pheromone product. World’s first Oxytocin pheromone product, specially formulated to create a trusting atmosphere. Do you want others to trust you more? Could you sell more, love more and accomplish more if people trusted you more? Pick up a bottle of Liquid Trust Pheromones today to create a trustworthy vibe”.
It isn’t being marketed as a breastfeeding product but I thought I would try it and see if it would help me with letdown. When I pump it takes at least 10 minutes before I see any milk droplets. I am constantly trying to understand my low supply issue so thought I might see if it is a let down issue.
Unfortunately, I didn’t notice a huge change in my milk letdown. I do however continue to use it right before pumping just in case! Let me know if you notice any changes.
If you want to try it, you can purchase it for $30 through Amazon.com
This is a fantastic recipe that I found on pinterest. We all absolutely loved it. The link to this wonderful recipe is here at allrecipes. Next time I will probably triple the recipe because it was a HUGE hit.

Have you heard about the Calma bottle put out by Medela? It uses a research-based nipple that allows babies to feed in a natural way. It is for breastfed babies so the transition between breast and bottle is easy.
This bottle is really good for keeping breastfed babies from getting a lazy suck from using a bottle. I can tell you this is a major problem. I did not have any problem with my daughter preferring a bottle over breast (until months later) but have struggled with her having a lazy suck. This is probably because I didn’t start off using a bottle such as this one. If I have another child, I will only use this bottle. I know a lot of my visitors have found my blog after searching for help with their own breastfeeding struggles. Looking back at my errors, using a traditional bottle was one of them. With a normal nipple the milk just drips out regardless of what you do and the baby doesn’t have to really suck to be fed. If you are having to supplement, as I did, soon they will develop a lazy suck. This bottle could prevent this as it requires more work.
I love the bottle because it doesn’t leak. With most bottles, those middle of the night feeding with a half asleep mama lead to milk getting all over my baby girl’s face. Finally, a bottle that doesn’t leak! If the baby isn’t sucking, the milk is going nowhere.
I love the bottle. However…my baby does not. I want her to love it. I want to be able to tell every single mother that they should get this bottle. My daughter does not like it at all, however. The problem is that she wasn’t started on this bottle and she has a lazy suck now. She equates bottles to mean an easy, relaxing feed that requires little to no work on her behalf. Now, I will say that I recently retried it when she was hungry and she drank from it just fine. The problem is she often uses the bottle to fall asleep and if she is having to work hard, she gets upset because she can’t fall asleep. However, my baby has been formula supplemented from the start due to my low supply. If you have a baby who is mostly breastfed and is used to working a little harder, I think this is probably the bottle for you. I highly encourage moms who plan to breastfeed, to use this bottle only, so that they do not end up with lazy suckers.
The Calma can be bought on Amazon for $14.95. You can also buy it at Target, Buy Buy Baby, and Babies R Us/
Here is a video with more information about the bottle:
Hey, Superfunmama. I know you are a therapist. What can I do to help my child with anger?
One thing you can do with your child to start a dialogue about controlling anger is to create an anger map. You can download an anger map by visiting here
Another thing you can do is to play the “Don’t Get Mad” game with your children. This game can be downloaded and printed out here
Some other ideas that aren’t so cognitive based but rather are more about getting the angries out of their bodies are to have them to pound on playdoh to relieve tension (although some studies suggest this increases anger so be aware of your child and how they react), ask your child to make the angriest picture they can and then talk to you about it, or let your child yell into a pillow for one minute.
I started wearing the binder as soon as I got home from the hospital. It was not as easy as I had imagined it would be. I think that I was just too large. There is no way I could have put the binder on myself. I needed my husband to pull it as tight as he could. If I had to take it off during the day while he was away, there was no possible way for me to get it back on myself.
I wore the belt throughout the first month. What readers really want to know is if it worked or not? ABSOLUTELY. When I got pregnant with my first daughter I gained 100 pounds and went up 3-4 pants sizes. I expected to be able to fit back into my jeans a few weeks later…seven years later that still hasn’t happened. In this pregnancy I gained 75 pounds. This time, however, I had the binder. At one week postpartum I was back in my jeans. After my first C-section I remember one very sad day where I stared in the mirror crying saying that I looked like a monster. While pregnant my very large belly had been upright but after the C-section all of the excess skin and flab had drooped down over my bikini line. I didn’t have anywhere near that experience with this recovery and I believe it is because of the binder.
However…I just wasn’t as determined that second month. For the second month you are to wear a different binder. I had a hard time getting up out of bed to have my husband bind me for the day when I had been up with the baby all night. See, I just could not put it on myself. I don’t think this is the norm. I think I was really to large for the product at the end of the weight range. I think a smaller woman could probably put it on by herself. However, I think the product did what it was designed to do. It got me to my pre-pregnancy size really fast. I had just hoped in the back of my mind that somehow it was going to shrink my belly to where it would become even smaller than it was before I became pregnant. Knowing that someone can gain 75 pounds and end up back in their same jeans a week later…I can’t imagine a more successful story even if it was a difficult process for me to wear.
The cotton feels very soft and I imagine if the product weren’t too small for you that it would be very comfy. The pain of my C-section was considerably better. If you read my birth story, you know that the difference in pain between the two C-sections are extreme. I believe this is much to do with binding. You feel so much more supported. Furthermore, my C-section this time healed considerably faster. Another great thing about this design is you don’t have to take it off to pee! Some of the other binders must be removed but you can still urinate without this one having to be removed.
The Deluxe C Section Recovery Kit includes:
1 AbdoMend™ Support Binder & Strap; 1 Hem It In Binder;1 Skin Brush; Massage & Meditation DVD
In addition to the two binders, the kit comes with a skin brush, instruction booklet, skin brush, and massage and meditation DVD. The skin brush program is for the Hemming Scar Therapy and helps to avoid ingrown hairs, reduce adhesions, and other problems with the scar. I can tell you that with my first C-section I did experience ingrown hairs, redness, and a pulling pain. I’ve had none of that this time. It is like I didn’t even have a C-section. I would never in a million years consider having another C-section without a binder. I had one C-section without a binder and I was in the worst pain of my life, was wearing maternity clothes months postpartum, and had considerable problems with the C-section scar. This time I had very little pain, my stomach is the size it was before I got pregnant, and I’ve had no problems. For this reason I HIGHLY recommend the Abdomend (C-Section Recovery Kit).
I’ll tell you that there are several different binder companies to choose from. I’ve already done the homework for you. This is by far the one you should choose. If you read the reviews online you’ll find the Kardashian endorsed binder doesn’t have the best reviews. People say it is uncomfortable, doesn’t work well, and that it rides up. Others get lose really fast or don’t provide enough compression. When I say I did the homework for you-I literally spent hours and hours throughout my pregnancy researching this. Of all the products, women online seemed to be the happiest with this one. This is especially true for plus sized mamas out there. First of all, there aren’t a lot of choices for us. For some reason the binding community doesn’t seem to think we care about our figures at all. Just because we aren’t tiny, we would still like to not make a problem area worse! This company does offer larger sizes. Now, I do wish the voluptuous size went even bigger because I have really large hips. Like I said, the product definitely worked for me but I couldn’t put it on without assistance. Still, I want to say this one more time…I gained 75 pounds and was back in my prepregnancy jeans a week postpartum. I am still a large woman…but this is AMAZING!!
Now, I do still have some questions. I am now over 3 months postpartum. I want to know if it could still help my belly area? On some of the forums women start binding several months after giving birth but I can’t find if it helped them or not. If anyone knows the answer to this please let me know!
